The Role:

The Special Services Group Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of project management, including, but not limited to, the management of: integration of Chandos systems, procurement, scope, schedule, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and stakeholders. This position works closely with the project team and stakeholders to maintain excellent relationships with subcontractors and clients.

The Tasks:

  • Manage General Contractor project activities throughout the life cycle of the project, including the allocation of adequate resources, scheduling, documentation, and budgets;
  • Achieve the project budget and complete accurate monthly forecasts;
  • Act as primary liaison with clients, designers, site superintendents, subtrades and other project stakeholders.
  • Organize project teams into suitable workgroups and guide the teams through their efforts to produce deliverables according to specification.
  • Manage internal and/or external contractors or trades.
  • Manage trade contractor site meetings, RFIs, invoices and control document process.
  • Plan all project timelines, milestones, deliverables and microdeliverables using the appropriate software tools and/or project-management methods.
  • Complete accurate monthly forecasts for all assigned projects
  • Conduct stakeholder meetings and forums in order to solicit feedback, input and expectations

The Requirements (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Technical diploma in a constructionrelated field (CET) or related engineering degree; a Gold Seal certification would be desirable;
  • 8 years of progressively responsible work experience in Ontario within the Commercial/ Institutional construction industry or with a General Contractor
  • Commitment to working in a team environment, and good teambuilding abilities;
  • Superior leadership qualities with a demonstrated track record of dealing successfully with internal and external clients;
  • Able to interpret and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and timelines.
  • Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances, legislation and building codes

  • Expertise in labour relations and procedures
  • Strong integration and problemsolving skills.
  • Able to interpret and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and timelines.
  • Understanding of contract fundamentals, experience in managing contractors under the terms of a contract.
  • Highly effective negotiation, diplomacy and conflictresolution skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively with staff at all levels of the organization – including labourers, technical staff, professionals and upper management – both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with business units, corporate departments, key managers and other stakeholders.
  • Flexible – able to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to travel
