The North Red Deer Regional Wastewater Commission is constructing a large diameter trunk line to transport wastewater from the Town of Blackfalds and the City of Lacombe to the City of Red Deer Wastewater Treatment Plant in northeast Red Deer, Alberta. The project will include construction of lift stations beside the existing wastewater lagoons in south Blackfalds and east Lacombe. Chandos' scope of work will include the Lacombe Lift Station which will be a three storey structure on a 240 m2 building footprint. The building will have a single above grade floor built over 2 levels of below grade structure for pumps and reservoirs. Chandos won this project through a lump sum bid to the North Red Deer Regional Wastewater Services Commission through Stantec Consulting Engineers. The pipeline requires a deep excavation and ties in with a cast-in-place sub structure complete with a septage receiving station. The project scope also includes a precast exterior wall system and structural pumps, instrumentation, and yard civil including the draining of an existing lagoon. The area for excavation has a high water table and that is one of the priorities for the project team.
