In partnership with Avenue Living, M O George Architect, and Claroscuro Architecture, we are excited to announce that we are completing major upgrades to the upcoming The Sunrise in downtown Edmonton, Alberta. The 12-storey, 11,400 sq. ft. building was originally built in 1970, and will be transformed into a modern, affordable, and environmentally sustainable mixed-use building.
Our national special services group (SSG) will complete a retrofit on the building, which includes significant abatement and remediation, mechanical and electrical upgrades, updated windows, full building envelope improvements, and more. Suites in The Sunrise will also receive LED lighting upgrades, updated bathrooms and kitchens, new modern amenity spaces including a shared library, gym, roof top patio, a games and movie room, as well as upcoming new commercial spaces.
The exterior upgrades focus on sustainability. The Sunrise will be wrapped in the largest array of solar panels in Canada! The solar panels are expected to reduce the building’s greenhouse gas emissions by more than 50 per cent and will double as a piece of public art, featuring an 85 ft. tall mural designed by local Indigenous artist Lance Cardinal that will pull from both Asian and Indigenous influences.
