In partnership with Avenue Living, M O George Architect, and Claroscuro Architecture, we are excited to share that we have completed major upgrades to The SunRise building in downtown Edmonton, Alberta. The 12-storey, 11,400 sq. ft. tower was originally built in 1970, and has been transformed into a modern, affordable, and environmentally sustainable mixed-use building.
Our national special services group (SSG) completed a retrofit on the building, which included significant abatement and remediation, mechanical and electrical upgrades, updated windows, full building envelope improvements, and more. Suites in the high rise also received LED lighting upgrades, updated bathrooms and kitchens, and new modern amenity spaces including a shared library, gym, roof top patio, pet grooming station, a games and movie room, golf simulator, as well as upcoming new commercial spaces.
The exterior upgrades focus on sustainability. The SunRise is now wrapped in solar cladding that doubles as public art. The 85 ft. tall mural designed by local Indigenous artist, Lance Cardinal, and has been awarded the Guiness World Record for the largest solar panel artwork that produces electricity.
