Red Deer, Alberta
This project is one of the first municipally funded IPD projects in Canada and is the first IPD project with the City of Red Deer. The buildings were constructed from a grade beam and slab on grade foundation with precast exterior and interior walls. A fitness room, crews quarters, training tower, training room and training components to the fire stations were major portions of the amenities with apparatus bays for service to the community.
By utilising a highly collaborative approach, we were able to provide additional wish list items without increasing the original budget. These things included operational items like how the overhead doors work, upgrades to doors and flooring, exercise room equipment integral to the building, additional functionality to training equipment, additional quality to floor slabs, analysis of spaces and optimisation for final use during construction, colours, quality in HVAC, how the building interacted with the surrounding environment, landscaping items, and art projects with the community.
