This project was a Design-Build addition of a New Field House and Library, which also required a major demolition of a 60-year-old rink as well as renovations to the existing recreation centre. Throughout construction, the facility remained fully operational. During the course of construction, it was discovered that the roof of the existing facility required major repairs which were completed 40% under budget. The major challenges that we successfully overcame included relocating the main electrical transformer which was situated in the center of the new field house and constructing the facility to work with the existing city drainage system. This required raising the fieldhouse approximately three feet to get proper gravity drainage. The City of Brooks praised the efforts of the site team for being able to coordinate around the public during construction.
