This project consisted of the replacement of the mechanical system, extensive pool upgrades, a new dive tank with tower, and noise attenuation panels.
The renovation included specialized improvements such as a widened 10 meter diving tower to accommodate synchronized platform diving; improved safety with the relocation of the north west side three meter diving boards; enhanced training opportunities for synchronized diving from the five meter platform; an upgraded bubble delivery system; new full-width and length rubber surfaces on all dive platforms; and refinished woodwork on the tower platforms and ladders.
This complex project was completed on schedule and on budget. Some challenges we faced included the facility being partially operational during construction. Our team took great care and completed work at night in order to avoid disturbing the regular operations of the pool.
Another challenge we had to overcome was removing and replacing the ceiling tiles as they became damaged by chemical and humidity levels. We worked with the project team and specialty trades to research and procure the correct ceiling system to be used for this application. This project also required us to construct the largest movable scaffold system used in Alberta in order to install the large diameter ductwork required to improve air quality in the facility.
