The Nordik Spa-Nature in Whitby was built using the innovative method of integrated project delivery (IPD). The new 52,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art spa will be comprised of the main building, six saunas, two steam rooms, eight pools; 25 massage rooms; three restaurants; several rest areas; fire pits and a beach lounging area. This project included high-level interior finishes and exterior finishes, and incorporated mass timber materials.
This project also took several steps towards reducing its ecological footprint, including implementing a heat recovery system; downlighting to prevent light pollution; using Low Impact Development strategies (such as keeping all soil on-site for future use in landscaping), and collecting rainwater to be used for gardening and other water features.
